Karina Gentinetta’s large-scale canvases are characterized by all-over black pencil markings, occasional bursts of color and a strong compositional sense. Her works are often dramatic with bold, audacious strokes. They convey a sense of childlike innocence which is curiously juxtaposed by disciplined and perfectly balanced compositions. This carefully orchestrated artistic incongruity speaks of the constant inner battle the artist (who is also a former lawyer) feels between the logical versus the creative pulls in her life.
